About Me I am a traditional potter born and raised in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina. I try my best to use as many raw materials as I can in order to reflect the nature and environment that surrounds my shop. I have lived in and visited other countries that are reflected in my work as well. I stayed in Wales and England for a month in the summer of 2008, and lived in Jingdezhen, China for four months in 2008. These two places are rich in pottery heritage and carry a huge influence on my work. None, however, is greater influence than the work of older North Carolina potters, the ones that settled the land where I work. What’s important in my work is life and the living. I want to make pots that have presence and bring joy to people’s lives. I try to work as intuitively as possible using resources that are available locally. I hope that when someone looks at a piece of my work they would not see me, but rather they would see a beautiful object standing alone in its own character. |
